Drum Lessons in Schenectady & Albany
Whether you’re picking up drumsticks for the first time or looking to level up your skills for bands, worship, studio work, or performance, our drum lessons are built for all ages and experience levels. We teach drummers how to groove, think, listen, and play like real musicians — not just repeat patterns.
Our drum program is inclusive and welcoming for all ages, levels, abilities, and learning styles.
Why Drums at Warren Music Academy
We are not a plug-and-play franchise. Every student is trained the way elite musicians are trained — with clarity, accountability, musicality, and community. Families and adult students don’t come to us for “just drum lessons.” They come because they want confidence, creativity, and real progress — the things music gives when it’s taught well by a supportive, collaborative faculty.
Warren Music Academy was founded by Don Warren, a veteran musician and educator who has recorded on more than 30 albums, is a voting member of the GRAMMY Awards, and comes from a four-generation musical family legacy. His methods and standards continue to shape every instructor and program at WMA.
What You’ll Learn
- Stick control, hand technique, and proper mechanics
- Timekeeping, groove, and pocket — the core of all drumming
- How to play with a band: drummers drive the music, not just follow it
- Rock, pop, funk, blues, jazz, worship, metal, and more
- Playing with backing tracks, click tracks, and live musicians
- Fills, dynamics, drum charts, improvisation, and musical decision-making
Every lesson is guided by WMA’s education-first philosophy, ensuring drummers build long-term musicianship instead of short-term memorization.
Who We Teach
Kids, teens, adults, beginners, self-taught drummers, band players, worship drummers, and advanced students. Whether you’re learning your first rock beat or preparing for live performance or studio work, you’ll be coached at the right level — with clarity, structure, and encouragement.
Students come to us from Schenectady, Albany, Niskayuna, and throughout the Capital Region. Online drum lessons are available for remote students as well.
Performance & Recording Opportunities
Drum students can join full performance groups, rehearse like working musicians, record in studio environments, and perform live. We don’t just train drummers — we give them a stage to use what they learn.
